Partner
Geoff Muttart is a native of Kings County, Nova Scotia and has practiced
law in Kentville since 1995. In addition to his law degree, he has
a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology. He has specialized training
from DalTech in Environmental Law and related legislation. He is also
an Authorized Lawyer pursuant to the Land Registration
Act, which permits
him to conduct transactions in Nova Scotia pursuant to the Act.
Geoff provides legal solutions to Municipal Governments, Farms, Businesses
and Individuals. He has a comprehensive practice with extensive experience
in Municipal Law, Planning and Zoning Law, Public Procurement (e.g. tenders), Real Estate Law, Agricultural Law, Business Law and Estate
Planning Law. He represents parties in litigation matters before the
Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, and
the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board. He provides comprehensive
legal services to the Municipality of the County of Kings, Town of
Kentville, Town of Berwick and Village of Port Williams, as well as Kings Transit,
Valley Community Fibre Network, and Kings Regional Development Agency.
Geoff advises clients about both business and personal legal
issues. These include: real estate and construction disputes; conveyancing
of property; managing environmentally contaminated sites; advocating for and against proposed developments; and planning for death and disability (e.g. wills and powers of attorney).
Geoff is involved in community affairs. He is currently Vice-President of The Kings County Barristers’ Society, Vice-Chairperson of the British Automobile Touring Association of Nova Scotia, Secretary of the Eastern Kings Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Annapolis Valley Farmland Trust Society, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Lawyers Association of Nova Scotia. He is a Past-Chairperson of the Kings Regional Development Agency and belongs to various sections of the Canadian Bar Association — Nova Scotia Branch.
He and his wife Anne-Marie live in Kentville.
