Cris was raised in Berwick, Nova Scotia. He co-founded and managed a business, which operated in both unionized and non-unionized industries throughout the Maritime Provinces. Cris accompanied his wife to Saskatchewan where he earned a Commerce degree with a major in Accounting (Great Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan, which he followed with a Bachelor of Laws degree. He was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 2007.
While practicing at Saskatchewan’s largest regional law firm, Cris gained experience in income tax, corporate/commercial, securities, natural resource and municipal law. He has advised businesses as diverse as small proprietors to large multi-national corporations.
Since joining muttarts law firm, Cris’ practice has focused on providing innovative and practical tax planning solutions to individuals, corporations, general and limited partnerships, joint ventures and other organizations and businesses.
Cris’ experience spans all aspects of corporate tax planning, estate and wills planning, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, corporate finance, and matrimonial property settlements.
Away from work, Cris was a lecturer in tax law at the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan, and taught an accounting class at the First Nations University of Saskatchewan. He has been an active community volunteer including as a member of the board of the Acadia Minor Hockey Association, the Chair of the Youth Exchange Committee of the Kentville Rotary Club, coaching minor baseball and soccer and fundraising for United Way of Saskatoon.
Cris lives in Kentville with his wife, Stephanie, and their two children.
